Release Biography
Heavy Boots is the solo outlet for Rachael Perisho (mumbledust). In her second release entitled 'Sister Lives' we find Perisho venturing into a fuller sound with friends Triathalon acting as her backing band. Perisho's haunting vocals still crawl from the folk and melancholy, but the ambience has now taken on an aura of calmed psychedelia. This release came with a bonus EP of ‘Sister Lives (Alternates)’ representing the stripped down solely acoustic versions of Perisho’s songs. ‘Sister Lives’ was released August 28th 2015 digitally worldwide, as well as on limited edition cassette with a mini-booklet of lyrics via Furious Hooves.
‘Sister Lives’ kind of served as her farewell to her chosen home of Savannah, GA after having spent many moons there. She talks about her time in Savannah and her future in the Pacific Northwest in an interview with Connect Savannah. “I feel like my aesthetic artistically is almost like a visual counterpart to music, and especially being able to work on album art and things like that — that really helps me a lot for making connections between themes I used in my work and how they relate,” Perisho says. Beyond her music you can find her artwork gracing the covers of Fox Food Records releases’ Good Good Blood and Fair Mothers, as well as a beautiful vinyl etching for the Dott & Night School split ‘Carousel’ from Graveface Records.

Press & Accolades
“Occupying a space between ambient folk, psychedelic rock and dream pop, ‘So Long’ is a melancholic late-summer jam for sunny days cut short by the encroaching winter. Coupled with the video, the song plays like hazy nostalgia dream, stitched together from threads of loss and joy and sorrow and bound by the overwhelming sensation of time passing.”
– Various Small Flames, premiere of “So Long” music video.
“In her time [in Savannah], she’s created gorgeous artworks and displayed them in local galleries, lent her voice and musical abilities to a variety of projects, and created her own unique, decidedly Southern gothic take on folk music.”
– Anna Chandler for Connect Savannah, interview with Heavy Boots.
“Heavy Boots' Rachael Perisho may have moved away, but before leaving Savannah, she left us with this little gem of a cassette. With support from members of Triathalon, Perisho's ambient croonings unfurl into a full, engrossing experience.”
– Connect Savannah’s Year in Review“But in this EP there is even more: there are compositions that clearly start from folk (like the beautiful track that opens the EP, ‘An Other’) to move only in their final performance towards dreamy atmospheres. And above all there is the voice of Rachael, which seems to stand out beyond time and fill each piece with a slight melancholy.”
– Triste Sunset, review of ‘Sister Lives’ EP. [translated from Italian]
